 I wanted to create the illusion of communication between two flowers and accomplish this in a still photograph. The concept was easier than making it happen. It took me over four hours just to build the apparatus needed to hold the calla lily and plumb the flower with a tiny hose to create the stream of water. After all of that the first rolls of film were not successful and I had to shoot it again. The sense of grace and communion that this image portrays was worth all of the efforts.
